Last week, the U.S. Treasury announced that Washington Democrats rang up a $1.42 trillion budget deficit in 2009 – the single largest in American history. But that isn't slowing their push for more government spending, a jobs-killing national energy tax, and a costly government takeover of health care. Republicans have a better budget solution that curbs spending, cuts taxes and creates new jobs, and gets control of the national debt. Here's more on these and other issues on our radar this week:

CURBING SPENDING AND CREATING NEW JOBS. Republicans countered the trillion-dollar "stimulus" and $3.6 trillion budget with better plans that would curb government spending and actually help small businesses create new jobs. "READ THE BILL" FIGHT PICKS UP STEAM. Republicans took another step last week in the fight to make Congress more transparent and accountable by introducing legislation to prevent "phantom amendments" from being added to bills after they've been voted on. DEMOCRATS DROP THE HAMMER ON THE MIDDLE CLASS. The Senate Finance Committee approved a costly Democratic health care proposal that will radically increase government spending and raise costs on families and small businesses. THANK YOU. Thanks to your support, The Freedom Project is helping reform-minded candidates for Congress while holding Democrats accountable and promoting an agenda of freedom and security. Thank you again and please stay in touch.
