Democrats Attack and Mock Tea Party Activists, Independent Voters
Democrats are clearly doing everything in their power to alienate as many voters as possible. They rammed ObamaCare into law over the objections of Americans; they're planning a massive small business tax hike; they're refusing to rule out passing more jobs-killing legislation during the "lame duck" session; and now Democrats are openly mocking Tea Party activists and independent voters. Have a look:
>> DNC mocks Tea Party movement, calls them 'elite': "Democrats today mocked Tea Party activists with a fake 'Republican Tea Party' agenda, arguing that the conservative grassroots are really elitists who are one and the same with Republicans. 'They talk about the Tea Party and make us think that this is some kind of grassroots movement harkening back to the Tea Party of the American Revolution,' an incredulous New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone, flanked by other Democrats at a DNC press conference, said Wednesday. But Tea Party activists today, he said, advocate positions that only benefit the wealthy."" (Daily Caller, 7/28/10)
>> But Four in 10 Tea Party members are Democrats or independents: "Four in 10 Tea Party members are either Democrats or Independents, according to a new national survey. The findings provide one of the most detailed portraits to date of the grassroots movement that started last year." (The Hill, 4/4/10)
>> And Independent Voters Favor GOP in 2010 Election Tracking: "By an average 10 percentage-point margin since March, 45% to 35%, independent registered voters have consistently preferred the Republican to the Democrat when asked which congressional candidate they would vote for in their district." (Gallup Survey, 7/1/10)
Ironically, it was one year ago – last August – that Democrats went on the offensive against those who disagree with their "spend, tax, and borrow" agenda, calling concerned voters "un-American" and an "angry mob."
When Democrats aren't attacking voters, they're breaking the promises and pledges they made to them. Remember, they promised their trillion-dollar "stimulus" would keep the unemployment rate below 8 percent; today it's 9.5 percent. They promised their government takeover of health care would lower costs and wouldn't force taxpayers to fund abortions; costs are going up and tax dollars are being made available for abortions. They promised to "drain the swamp" and lead the "most ethical" Congress; but "the House Ethics Committee on Thursday will outline charges being brought against Rep. Charles Rangel, D-N.Y." – a close ally of Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
They also promised they wouldn't raise taxes on middle class families and those making less than $250,000 a year; yet the president is plotting a massive small business tax hike (in addition to the taxes, penalties, and mandates in ObamaCare and the threat of a national energy tax).
Is anyone surprised that analyst Michael Barone says "most signs suggest Democrats will take a thumping this year?"
Democrats need to spend more time listening to voters and less time attacking them. Help hold them accountable by supporting a Republican candidate or making a generous contribution to The Freedom Project today.
